SMU 31 Nevada 0 Half

December 24, 2009

SMU is putting on an offensive display tonight in Hawaii. The true freshman QB Kyle Padron has thrown for 300 yards and 2 TDs in the first half! The defense for SMU has shutout a Nevada offense that averaged over 37 points a game for the season. The SMU offense has not had the advantage of a short field because the defense has not forced a turnover but have held Nevada to just 4 first downs. By the way SMU was the biggest underdog  in the bowls according to Vegas at +15 to open.  On a personal note, I picked SMU in all my bowl pools and against the spread but I did not expect them to blow out Nevada. Now lets see what happens in the second half.

Stars 2 Sharks 4 Final

December 21, 2009

The Stars scored just 18 seconds into the third period to bring the Stars within 1. But Marleau scored a couple of minutes later to make the lead two again. Ericksson tipped in a shot from Robidias to give the Stars a chance but the Sharks score an empty netter to kill all hope for the Stars. Shots on goal for the period, Stars 8 Sharks 13, for the game, Stars 38 Sharks 31. The Stars gave the Sharks no ppls, but only scored on one of their five ppls.

Stars 0 Sharks 2 2nd

December 21, 2009

The pace in the 2nd was the same as the first with both teams showing  plenty of energy. The Stars hit the pipe 3 times in the period but could not bury anything. The Sharks broke through halfway thru when Paveltski tipped in a nice pass from  Ryane. Then they scored again with 2 minutes left when Marluea buried a nice pass from Heatley after the  Dallas D misplayed the puck  to give the Sharks a 2-1 break away. The Stars got 2 more ppls  and did not score to be 0-4 in the game. Shots on goal, Stars 17 Sharks 11

Cowboys decide on Suisham

December 21, 2009

The Cowboys decided on Suisham as their new placekicker. This move had to be made with Folk totally losing his confidence and his teammates losing confidence in him. Their is nothing more demoralizing for a team to  work hard to  get in position for points and then have the FG kicker just shank  it. The Cowboys have put Folk on the IR to keep him around for next year and see if he can work out the “yips”.  Folk  lost his job after shanking a 24 yrd FG attemp with  2 minutes  left in the  game  against the Saints on Saturday night which allowed the Saints one last chance at tying the game. Ironically Suisham was cut 2 weeks ago from Washington  after he missed a 23 yrd FG attempt that would have won the game against the Saints. Suisham began his NFL career with Dallas in 2005-2006 and left due to free agency to Washington.

Stars 0 Sharks 0 1st

December 21, 2009

A typical Stars and Sharks game, lots of hits, good goaltending, and very chippy. I love when the Stars and Sharks play because these two teams do not like each other and they are in the same division, so they know each other. The Stars are  0 for 2 on the power play, they have to get this fixed.  The period ended in a 0-0 tie with Turco having to  make 3 great saves to preserve the tie. The Stars are getting plenty of shots  on goal but they are all one and done with nobody in front to  grab rebounds. Shots on goal Stars 12 Sharks 7.

Cowboys and Saints

December 20, 2009

The Dallas Cowboys showed up tonight and played their best game of the year and ruined the hopes of the New Orleans Saints perfect season. Romo was great, Ware was great, Austin was great, and Williams and Folk were their usual bad self yet the Cowboys still won. It makes you wonder why the Cowboys don’t play like that evey week.
